Dear Friends,
As 2025 draws to a close, we’d like to take a brief look back:

In May and December, we organized two more of our “online Round Tables” The idea of bringing Dalmatian enthusiasts from all over Europe together online in a relaxed setting is proving
increasingly popular. The focus is usually on health-related questions, but any other topic is welcome as well. In December, we were able to welcome participants from more than ten countries. We would like to thank all participants once again and would be delighted if even more Dalmatian enthusiasts would join us for the next meeting.

The health of our breed is of paramount importance to all of us. Therefore, we were very pleased that, thanks to the tireless research at the Universities of Helsinki and Uppsala, the genetics of dwarfism have now been elucidated, and a genetic test is now available since several months. This opens up new possibilities for breeding programs regarding the management of carriers.

At the end of August, we held our bi-annual WAFDAL meeting, including shows and board elections and a handling training, in Münchsgrün, Germany. Thanks to the many hard-working volunteers and the excellent organization by our member club, CDF, the long weekend turned into a fantastic event. Many thanks again to CDF and everyone involved.
The next WAFDAL meeting will take place in 2027, and initial planning is already underway. As soon as we have firm commitments, we will announce the details.

All in all, we look back on the past year with satisfaction. We were able to welcome many new individual members as well as new club members. Of course, there’s always room for improvement, and some things need to be communicated more clearly. But with your support, we look forward to an active and successful 2026!

With that in mind, we wish you all happy and peaceful holidays and a great start to the new year!
